About the Artist
When I shoot a picture, I try to find a slightly different angle: a step to the right, a lower point of view, a different focus or lighting situation as a way of making my work unique. I do so because I realize I won’t have many chances to photograph subjects no one else has seen or shot. I also look for those things in everyday life that we all “see” but barely notice.
I hold a bachelors degree in fine arts from Syracuse University. While I specialized in art history, my studies also covered design and painting. Though my professional life took a detour to include work as a writer, photography has brought me back to my roots in the visual arts. I have done photography all my life, but began doing it seriously in 1995.
